Submissions to Tolle Lege

In 2012, the Villanova Law Review launched Tolle Lege, an online companion to our print journal. Tolle Lege showcases work by members of the bench, bar, and academia, as well as select student notes. It is intended to augment the scholarship printed in the Law Review with shorter, less formal essays on timely legal issues.  The shorter format and expedited review process allow us to publish these pieces very quickly.

Submission: All submissions to Tolle Lege should be about 3,000 – 6,000 words, in Microsoft Word format, with light footnotes according to the conventions of The Bluebook.  If you are interested in writing a piece for Tolle Lege, please contact Managing Editor of Tolle Lege Matt Hall at  Tolle Lege requests that unsolicited manuscripts be submitted electronically to, or through ExpressO.  Please send all files in Microsoft Word format, not WordPerfect.
